Progress Energy Florida Taps Telvent for Smart Grid Solutions

Progress Energy Florida (PEF) has selected Telvent to engineer, design and implement the IT company's OASyS supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) solution to help the utility better serve its more than 1.6 million electric customers.

Telvent will implement its SCADA system, OASyS DNA, allowing PEF to receive reliable, real-time information from the field. This data is presented in a user-friendly interface, seamlessly integrating with the utility's current software. With Telvent managing PEF's distribution network and maintaining its operational integrity, PEF will have enhanced reliability and the capacity to make faster operational decisions, increase distribution efficiency and enhance customer satisfaction.

Telvent previously achieved successful results with PEF's sister company, Progress Energy Carolina (PEC). For the past 13 years, PEC has used Telvent's SCADA system and recently upgraded its version to ensure it is receiving the latest and most reliable real-time data to manage its operations.
