Zunyi Electrical Power Supply Company of Guizhou, China has selected Telvent's OASyS DNA supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system to accurately collect and analyze realtime data on grid operations for approximately 800,000 customers.

Telvent’s smart grid technology will allow Zunyi Power, a utility managed by Guizhou Power, to gather and analyze data via a user-friendly interface that operates in conjunction with current Telvent technology being implemented in all of Guizhou’s provincial cities. With this integrated solution, Zunyi Power will have the ability to collect reliable data from the field and analyze the information to support the planning, operation and analysis of the current distribution system, thereby increasing reliability and grid efficiency. This comprehensive technology will also help curb energy loss through power load management, rather than generating additional energy. The ability to make faster operational decisions will provide maximum power reliability to customers.

According to Telvent's chairman and CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez, “Telvent’s integrated smart grid tools give Zunyi Power the most robust capabilities to better serve its customers today and serve as the foundation for future efforts. We are proud to expand our solutions in China, which is a critical market and energy innovator.”

Telvent’s advanced distribution management system solution helps utilities manage power for 66 million customers worldwide in more than 20 countries. It was recently given a “positive” rating following an analysis by Gartner, Inc., the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company, in its March 2011 report, “MarketScope for Advanced Distribution Management Systems.”
