Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by Edison Sault Electric Co. (ESE) of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, for a new comprehensive SCADA system.

ESE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wisconsin Energy Corp., serving customers in Michigan’s Eastern Upper Peninsula. Installation of OSI’s Monarch system will aid ESE in its pursuit to ensure continued reliable operation and delivery of electricity to its customers.

In addition to increased reliability, ESE’s main motivation for this project has been the implementation of a modern and open control system architecture, facilitating future upgrades of hardware and software as well as a lower recurring maintenance cost.

The proposed system is based on OSI’s innovative Monarch distributed open architecture and includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Web-based Graphical User Interface, Historical Information System and Calculation and Trending subsystems, as well as ICCP and DNP communications.
