Information Intellect's IntelliPlant system has been selected by Tampa Electric Company for its capital project tracking and fixed-asset accounting.

The system was selected based on its utility-specific functionality, which will enable the Tampa Electric Company’s Plant Accounting Department to improve capital expenditure controls and automate capital accounting processes for their increasing volume of construction.

Jeff Chronister, assistant controller of Tampa Electric, said, “With our anticipated investment in new generation capacity, we felt it was important to have the support of a state-of-the-art system designed to track the resulting assets as well as our existing assets. IntelliPlant will enable us to handle the significant volume without the cost and risk of customizations.”

IntelliPlant will provide the following additional benefits for Tampa Electric:

  • Extend the life of the existing financial system
  • Eliminate the need for customized property accounting auxiliary systems
  • Provide vital capital expenditure management tools
  • Automate and streamline the plant accounting process
  • Reduce time spent on manual tasks

Tampa Electric is a regulated utility with 4400 MW of generating capacity and more than 645,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. The company’s West Central Florida service area covers 2000 square miles, including all of Hillsborough County and parts of Polk, Pasco and Pinellas counties.
