UISOL has entered into an alliance with Open Grid Systems, headquartered in the United Kingdom.

Alstom's UISOL has entered into an alliance with Open Grid Systems, headquartered in the United Kingdom. The advanced, extensible mobile applications offered by Open Grid Systems complement the Alstom Integrated Distribution Management System (IDMS) offering, to provide capabilities needed by utilities’ field workforce.

Open Grid Systems has a suite of flexible, standards-based products designed for utility workers to access and collect information in the field. This is done by using tablet technologies in both offline and online environments. Open Grid Systems’ products provide the means to integrate the network model with geographic maps, satellite views and an augmented reality view. These are capabilities that are unique to this solution. The products can be readily integrated with other enterprise systems and sources of data.

Through the alliance, UISOL will provide consulting, deployment and integration services around the Open Grid Systems and Alstom IDMS solutions. UISOL will also provide the capacity needed for a broader deployment and usage of Open Grid Systems’ products.

“The Open Grid Systems solution recognizes the full potential of modern, tablet-based technologies as an information solution for the mobile work force. One example is damage assessment, where the information needed by the utility can be readily captured using tablet technologies. The Open Grid Systems solution brings powerful mobile capabilities to Alstom IDMS customers”, said UISOL’s Chief Technology Officer Scott Neumann.
