New Substations to Strengthen Northern Indian Region's Transmission Grid
India's Power Transmission Corp. of Uttarakhand Ltd has ordered three substations to strengthen the northern Indian region's transmission grid and help deliver clean hydropower to communities in the area.
ABB will design, supply, install and commission the substations, rated at 132 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV respectively, as well as transformers and other major power equipment.
The substations are scheduled for completion in 2011, and will help meet growing demand for electricity with renewable power sources, supporting sustainable economic development in the region. The Srinagar substation in the western Himalayas will be one of the largest of its kind in the area.
PTCUL is the power transmission utility responsible for operating and maintaining substations and transmission lines in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand.
