AREVA T&D Awarded a 19 Million Euros Contract by Hydro One in Canada
AREVA's Transmission and Distribution division has been awarded a 19 million euros contract by Hydro One Networks Inc. to supply and install a static VAR compensator (SVC), which will be the largest SVC installed in Ontario, Canada.
The installation will be strategically located within the existing 500-kV Porcupine Station in Timmins, Ontario, which is part of the main transmission network that connects the generation plants located in Northern Ontario to the population centers in the south of the province.
This new installation will improve the performance and stability of the network in this region. The project is due for completion on Nov. 1, 2010.
