Group EFACEC, a supplier of automation systems and energy infrastructure solutions, will build a US$100 million transformer manufacturing facility in Effingham County, Georgia, U.S. EFACEC also recently announced its acquisition of Advanced Control Systems (ACS; Atlanta, Georgia).
“Along with the acquisition of ACS, this plant investment is a landmark for EFACEC and an essential step in our growth strategy in the key United States market,” says EFACEC CEO LuÍs Filipe Pereira. “It also bolsters EFACEC's plans for expansion and globalization.”
The EFACEC plant, which will create more than 600 jobs, is slated to deliver large transformers to U.S. utilities by the end of 2009. Founded in Portugal in 1948, EFACEC employs more than 3000 people and maintains a presence in more than 60 countries worldwide. With the acquisition of ACS, EFACEC now serves utilities in nearly every state in the United States.
