Black & Veatch Installs Four 10-MW Units in California
Black & Veatch (Overland Park, Kansas, U.S.) has completed engineering, procurement and construction of 40 MW of distributed generation power for the Riverside Public Utilities' Springs Generation Project (Riverside, California, U.S.). The project was designed to improve the reliability, availability and price stability of power required by the city.
The new Riverside generation facility provides short start-up times, enabling operators to make cost-effective decisions on whether to purchase power from the local grid or use power generated from the plant. The city-owned plant consists of four 10-MW General Electric 10 units that will allow the utility to stage the units as needed during peak demand periods in July, August and September, and at other times determined to be most economical.
