GE Energy to Build Modular Protection and Control Structures for Pacific Gas & Electric
GE Energy (Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.) has received an order from Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E; San Francisco, California, U.S.) to build packaged control buildings at three PG&E substations in Northern California. The combined value of these projects is in excess of $4 million.
“Our system integration team took the lead on this project and worked closely with the customer and select suppliers to develop a solution that specifically meets the customer's requirements,” says Bob Gilligan, general manager of Network Reliability Products and Services for GE Energy. “This was a key differentiator for us in getting the project.”
GE offered substation-ready control buildings that include hardware and software to provide a customized control, monitoring and protection system. The entire system is assembled as a unit in the control building and wired internally to interface blocks. This approach will significantly reduce the cost and lead time associated with getting the control building operational.
