Siemens Supplies Medium-Voltage Substations to United Arab Emirates
The Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution Group, Erlangen, Germany, is supplying the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) with medium-voltage switch-gear worth roughly Euro 16 million. The contract consists of components and systems for 10 new 33-kV/11-kV switching stations, as well as for expansion of the nine existing stations. This switchgear package is intended for further upgrading of the country's power-distribution system to meet the rising demand for power and water in the United Arab Emirates. A decisive factor in securing the order included the minimal maintenance required by the switchgear and the customers' favorable experience with Siemens' after-sales service.
