Siemens Supplies Substations to ADWEA

The Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution Group is supplying the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) with medium-voltage switchgear worth approximately Euro 16 million. The contract consists of components and systems for 10 new 33-kV/11-kV switching stations, as well as for expansion of the nine existing stations. This switchgear package is intended for further upgrading the country's power-distribution system to meet the sharply rising demand for power and water in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

ADWEA decided on the 11-kV level using Siemens' air-insulated switchgear. The panels are equipped with NX Act vacuum circuit breakers that combine the functions of a circuit breaker, a discon-nector and all interlocks in a single unit.
