Telvent to Control Electricity Distribution Substations in Baja California, Mexico
The Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) awarded Telvent a contract worth more than 2 million euros to supply control, protection and communications systems for various electricity distribution substations throughout the Baja California region of Mexico.
Telvent's Saitel 2000DP remote intelligent terminals will be used to capture data. The CFE will then use Telvent's real-time control and data acquisition platform, OASyS DNA, to control the status of the distribution network at all times, as well as to monitor for and manage incidents as they occur. When the system is operational, households in the region will have a guaranteed and reliable supply of electricity based on fully automated electricity substations with minimal human error.
A communications network also will be created as part of the project, making it possible to transmit voice and other data from electrical substations to the main control station via fiber-optic transmission equipment.
