AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution Division has delivered a system upgrade to Hydro One Networks Inc

AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution Division has delivered an important system upgrade to Hydro One Networks Inc., the largest operating subsidiary of Hydro One Inc., which is wholly owned by the Canadian Province of Ontario. The new energy management system (EMS) is based on AREVA T&D’s renowned e-terra application suite and is running at Hydro One’s primary control center in Barrie, Ontario, and its backup control center in Richview, a neighborhood of Toronto, Ontario. The system monitors and controls 97 percent of Ontario's electricity transmission system, covering over 1 million square km.

Hydro One now benefits from all the features of e-terra platform version 2.5, which includes essential elements to help utilities comply with North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s Critical Infrastructure Protection standards. NERC CIP standards define the minimum requirements to enable a reliable electrical system and all North American organizations involved with the electrical network are subject to them.
