Hurricane Delta: Behind the Scenes of the Restoration

Oct. 17, 2020
Utility companies share their strategies and challenges with restoring power.

More than 18,500 workers from at least 27 states worked day and night to restore power to the customers and communities impacted by Hurricane Delta, according to a recent update from the Edison Electric Institute (EEI).

As of 5 p.m. EDT on Oct. 13, about 95,800 customers were without power as a result of Delta in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, down from a peak of nearly 824,000. Crews already have restored power to nearly 90 percent of all impacted customers who are able to receive power, less than four days after the storm made landfall, the EEI stated.

Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the restoration as told in videos on social media.
