Throughout the nation, Americans recently celebrated military heroes on Veterans Day. A week later, we are proud to launch our third and final part of our Veterans in the Line Trade series to honor the men and women who have served our country.
The final part takes us to Charlotte, Michigan, home of the UWUA Power for America Training Trust Fund. Jonathan Harmon, executive director, describes the opportunities for military veterans in the utility industry, what makes them successful in the trades and how they can get trained for civilian careers at the training center.
The training center works directly with utilities nationwide to prepare their employees for rewarding careers in both the electric and gas utility industries. Through the Utility Workers Military Assistance Program and Skill Bridge program, utilities can hire veterans to work in the trades when they exit military service.
