CPS Energy’s Plants and Teams Prepared for the Summer Season
CPS Energy has presented its efforts to the Board of Trustees as part of summer preparedness and has completed preparedness activities as part of the formal response to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), achieving ERCOT’s June 1, 2024 deadline.
CPS Energy has demonstrated that all transmission systems and generation units are fully compliant with the required readiness activities.
CPS Energy has conducted planned maintenance for all generation units for the 2024 summer, including additional hurricane preparation for the acquired plants in Corpus Christi and Laredo.
“Our teams have worked to ensure our plants are prepared to provide the energy our community expects and relies upon,” said Rudy D. Garza, President & CEO of CPS Energy. “As part of our commitment to provide reliable energy, we are doing what we need to do to have a successful summer run for our power plants.”
CPS Energy’s steps for reliable power plant operations during summer 2024 include:
· Conducting power plant and equipment system checks
· Servicing power plant cooling systems
· Reviewing power plant summer operating procedures, including emergency operations
Emergency supplies such as utility poles and transformers are available for immediate service restoration during outages. CPS Energy has also improved its system for prioritizing outages and performing unplanned infrastructure work to resolve critical service issues on time.
