Italy's Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has initiated the authorization process for the “Acquara - Porto Potenza Picena” power line project, which will pass through the municipalities of Recanati, Potenza Picena, and Civitanova Marche in the Macerata province. Terna will publish a notice with a list of land plots that may be affected by the project.
With an investment of over €13 million ($14.26 million), the project aims to enhance the 132 kV Adriatic backbone, resulting in a more reliable and efficient local electricity service and greater integration of renewable energy from southern Italy. The project involves laying an 11 km underground cable, consisting of 1.2 km in the municipality of Civitanova Marche, 1.3 km in Recanati, and 8.8 km in Potenza Picena.
Upon completion, Terna will demolish over 20 km of overhead power lines in the municipalities of Recanati, Montelupone, and Macerata, freeing up more than 42 hectares of land. The project is a result of participatory planning and coordination with the local area and municipalities, and it is expected to take approximately three years to complete.
Terna, with over 40 employees working daily on the regional electricity grid, manages more than 2000 km of high and extra-high-voltage power lines and 20 electrical substations in the Marche region.
