Entergy Louisiana has announced that it will start rebuilding a distribution powerline in Parks, Louisiana from May to September.
The project is aimed at ensuring reliable power delivery to residential and business customers in the surrounding area, the energy company says.
It adds that most of the work will be carried out from Parks substation along Nursery Highway to Main Highway (Highway 31) and south to Colonel Jeff de Blanc Parkway. The five-month project will involve the construction of approximately 5.5 miles of new distribution powerlines.
To facilitate this work, up to 10 construction crews will be involved in a range of underground and overhead utility work, including the installation of about 260 utility poles made of wood and concrete, as well as stringing new conductor.
The project will increase the electric capacity of the powerline and enable it to withstand increased wind loading, while also reducing stress on the St. Martinville substation and increasing reliability for customers in the area.
