Dec. 20, 2014
Transmission facilities in Manitowoc County will improve local electric reliability
American Transmission Co. (ATC) is requesting approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to construct a new 345-kV Substation and associated 345-kV transmission lines, and relocate a portion of an existing 138-kV transmission line, in the Town of Franklin, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. The facilities will support the reliable operation of the high-voltage transmission system that provides electric service to eastern Wisconsin.
If approved, construction would begin in August 2016 and the project would be placed into service in late 2018. The estimated cost of the project ranges from $41 million to $46 million, depending on routing and site selection.
