Nicholas Licht is a technical sales lead for NextEra Analytics, Inc. (NEA), a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun and a world leader in battery storage. NEA develops forecasting and optimization solutions that enable low-cost sustainable power systems. Mr. Licht focuses on assisting customers with the implementation of NextEra 360™, the software platform for end-to-end energy management and decarbonization needs. He was appointed to this position in October 2022.
Prior to joining NextEra Energy, Mr. Licht held several roles with CV Technology, including research and development engineer where he played a key role in the development of new protective equipment and managed the entire process from conceptualization to full-scale testing and production. Mr. Licht holds a patent for the innovative explosion isolation quench valve, which was the first of its kind.
Mr. Licht holds an MBA and a master’s degree in industrial and systems engineering and a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Florida.
David Abel
Manager of Policy & Strategy in Energy Management

David Abel is the manager of policy and strategy in energy management for NextEra Analytics, Inc. (NEA), a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun and a world leader in battery storage. NEA develops forecasting and optimization solutions that enable low-cost sustainable power systems. Mr. Abel focuses on energy markets and distributed resource management as well as air quality modeling, building energy modeling, and renewable energy project development, fields in which he is published and holds patents for algorithmic energy management software. He was appointed to this position in December 2022.
Prior to joining NextEra Energy Resources, Mr. Abel worked at the intersection of energy research and practice at institutions across the public, private, and NGO spheres, including the non-profit, Slipstream, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and the local policy-focused “think-and-do-tank” COWS (formerly Center on Wisconsin Strategy). In these roles, David designed over $1MM in annual energy savings through sustainable building design practices, published global energy and air quality research, and consulted on local, public energy initiatives.
Mr. Abel holds a Ph.D. in energy analysis and policy, a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, all from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Joshua Stone
Manager of Product Management, Gexa Energy

Joshua Stone is the manager of product management for NextEra Energy’s retail supplier, NextEra Energy Services and Gexa Energy (Texas territories), a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun and a world leader in battery storage. NES is a leading competitive energy supplier serving customers in deregulated markets, including residential, commercial, and industrial consumers. Joshua serves on the product development team that meets the needs of retail customers’ sustainability goals through demand response and renewable energy products. Mr. Stone was appointed to this role in June 2018.
Prior to joining NextEra Energy Resources, Mr. Stone worked for Gexa Energy where he interacted with brokers and transitioned to operations project management and demand response product development.
Mr. Stone holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Taylor University..
