Luke is a clean energy professional with 13 years of experience in public and private sector research, consulting and new business development. He has extensive experience across a wide range of supply and demand-side energy resources on the low-voltage grid, as well as carbon emissions management. For the past several years, he has focused on utilizing lean startup methods to drive new business innovation in the utility industry. Currently, he manages two new initiatives at Itron relating to customer engagement and enabling better access to energy industry data. Luke is also an active member on the Board of Directors for the Green Button Alliance.

Building on a progressive career arc from mechanical engineer, to renewable energy resource deployments, to global product portfolio management. This professional breadth supports a specialized talent for big-picture visioning, whole-system strategies, and cross-discipline solutions for increasing the scale of renewable energy’s positive impact on business and society. 
 
In his current capacity as Itron’s Director of Product Management, Nick leads the Distributed Energy Management business unit, accountable for global product development of demand response and DER solutions enabling access to flexible customer energy resources. Prior to joining Itron, Tumilowicz led global research and development at EPRI, accountable for transmission, distribution, and customer-connected energy storage research. As Director of Product Management at SunEdison, led the world’s largest managed renewable power plant fleet across six continents, managing data acquisition and control platform, operating a fleet of over 4 GW of renewable generation assets. Earlier in his career, Tumilowicz built and managed the service department at the nation’s leading renewable integrator, REC Solar (now Sunrun and Duke Energy), designing and deploying the country’s first commercial fleet of rooftop solar.

Juliet Shavit is the President of SmartMark Communications and a leading expert in smart grid customer education and the grid-edge. She was the founder of the U.S. Depart of Energy Smart Grid Customer Engagement Working Group under President Obama and the Smart Grid Customer Education Symposium series. She has worked for more than two decades with utilities, policy makers, industry organizations and consumer advocates on developing strategies and messaging around the benefits of AMI for consumers. 

Today, she is considered a leading expert on grid-edge, advising many industry stakeholders on the importance of consumer engagement and the link between widespread behavior change strategies and quantifying GHG reduction. Shavit currently supports ENERGY STAR's Smart Home Energy Management Systems (SHEMS) which is paving the way for measuring energy reduction through IoT devices in the home. Today she works with industry on the adoption of innovative technologies to drive behavior change and meet the needs of the new smart grid.
