Detectent has released a set of geospatial tools for its Customer Intelligence Platform (CustomerIP) that enable a rapid deployment of business intelligence and analytics for electric, gas and water utilities. The new geospatial toolset builds upon CustomerIP’s existing analytics capabilities giving utilities the power to manage data spatially as well as textually.
The geospatial toolset was developed with input from Detectent’s utility customer base and specifically with input from members of SCANA Corp.’s Revenue Protection department.
“There have been many benefits associated with our move to the AMR metering system, but one of the drawbacks was the loss of eyes in the field,” said Randy Howe, Supervisor of Revenue Protection at SCANA. “We have to continually look for ways technology can allow us to monitor our accounts in the most efficient way possible. I think this tool is a step in that direction. It enables us to compensate for those missing eyes in the field.”
CustomerIP is a platform and set of applications that utilities use to extract intelligence from large amounts of customer data. Primary applications include revenue assurance in the meter to cash cycle, customer segmentation and demand-side management (DSM) program planning and execution. CustomerIP has been deployed in more than twenty states and monitors more than 40,000,000 meters in the U.S.
The geospatial tools were released in January as part of CustomerIP release 3.7, which also included enhanced handheld device integration, support for Internet Explorer 9 as well as new tamper flag management tools.
