National Grid has just committed to fully deploy Utilidata’s Volt/VAR Optimization (VVO) technology – AdaptiVolt™ – across its electric system.

Working with the Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities and Carriers the deployment will help capture energy savings, improve reliability and provide unprecedented insights into electric grid operations.

This month’s announcement follows the success of National Grid’s pilot program with Utilidata (per the February, 2014 Transmission & Distribution World story:  National Grid to Use Volt/VAR Optimization Technology for Rhode Island.)

Deploying Utilidata’s Volt/VAR Optimization (VVO) technology – AdaptiVolt – across its electric system, which will National Grid capture energy savings, improve reliability and provide unprecedented insights into electric grid operations. In addition to providing customers with energy efficiency and system reliability benefits, Utilidata’s AdaptiVolt technology will also enable broader smart grid applications including advanced distribution automation and metering infrastructure, distributed energy resources and grid surveillance.
