Monitoring Unit Enhances Transformer Performance

Dorset-based manufacturer Accurate Controls Ltd has launched a transformer monitoring unit that can track the performance of multiple pumps and fans individually rather than as one single system.

The company, which provides specialist instrumentation to the power generation and distribution industry, designed the PFM Watchdog to meet the requirements of a single or dual stage cooling system within a high power transformer or substation distribution transformer.

Monitoring a total of 18 fans or 2 pumps and 16 fans, the unit also initiates a regular programmable exercise of the complete system to ensure all pumps and fans are functioning correctly.

Housed in a robust die cast metal box, the unit features a series of LEDs to indicate the status of each pump or fan with an alarm output as an added warning signal of any issues.
