SSEN to Undertake $13.2 Million Upgrade of Transmission Network in East Hampshire, UK

April 5, 2023
The project features the construction of a new substation in Bordon in addition to the refurbishment of substation connections.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is investing $13.2 million to upgrade its transmission and distribution network in Alton and Bordon in East Hampshire, UK. The work on the upgrades will begin on May 1 and will end in September 2024.

The project features the construction of a new substation in Bordon in addition to the refurbishment of substation connections. SSEN will also upgrade underground power cables, which run for 18 km, along with related infrastructure.

SSEN is undertaking this project as a follow up to preparatory works worth approximately $500,000 concluded in Bordon in November 2022. Work on this new project will be initiated from the Alton substation toward Oakhanger Road through to the new Bordon substation.

This latest phase of network improvements by SSEN follows the £400,000 preparatory works successfully completed in Bordon in November of last year and will begin from the Alton substation.
