Loftness has expanded its line of Battle Ax horizontal drum mulchers with the new L Series, designed for standard-flow skid steers with 16- to 30-gallon-per-minute hydraulic flow ratings. The new models allow the high-performance Battle Ax to be used on a wider variety of power equipment, since previous models were only available for high-flow skid steers.
L Series Battle Axes are available with 51- and 61-inch cutting widths. Like other Battle Ax models, the L Series features a new rotor design with built-in depth gauges, which function similarly to raker teeth on chain saws to prevent the attachment from engaging too much material at one time. This unique design is more suitable for managing the amount of material being fed into the attachment than competitive ring-style rotors, which many operators find to be overly limiting.
The new horizontal drum mulchers also include an exclusive two-stage cutting chamber, which allows material to be cut twice by the rotor and helps produce some of the smallest particle sizes in the industry. The primary shear bar is adjustable for customizing particle size.
The L Series comes with reversible Quadco blades for high performance. They are mounted in an efficient staggered/spiral tooth pattern to ensure single-tooth contact with the work surface at all times. Other standard features include a reliable gear motor, premium strength steel housing, a machined anti-wrap bearing protector and an integrated pressure gauge. A tree pusher bar with claw hooks is optional.
Loftness manufactures the VMLogix line of vegetation management equipment, which includes hydraulic oil coolers, the Kwik-Trim compact mechanical tree trimmer, and high-performance mulching heads for a variety of equipment, ranging from excavators, skid steer loaders and up to 400-horsepower prime movers.
