Trees falling into power lines is a common challenge, particularly during storm response work, facing Davey Utility services crews.
That’s why Utility services collaborated with the corporate safety department to hold the Securing and Releasing Tensioned Utility Lines training program. Two sessions were held in 2021, in November and May, and provided attendees with the knowledge and skills to safely remove trees that fall on tensioned power lines.
The training focuses on securing and removing lodged trees on utility lines but incorporates a variety of topics related to that type of work, including general personal safety PPE, job briefings, Factors and Forces, drop zone and strike zone policies, Davey rigging kit instructions and more.
