ESRI has announced that ArcSDE now supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with the release of the ArcSDE 9.1 Service Pack 1 to enable users to take advantage of Microsoft’s newest technology.

ArcSDE is a server software product that accesses multiuser geographic databases stored in relational database management systems (RDBMSs). ArcSDE enables users to

  • Integrate geographic information query, mapping, spatial analysis, and editing within a multiuser enterprise DBMS
  • Move from a distributed approach to an integrated environment
  • Manage spatial data as a continuous database accessible to the entire organization
  • Easily publish maps on the Web

ArcSDE 9.1 Service Pack 1 also includes performance improvements and maintenance fixes. It is available for download from the ESRI support site at support.esri.com/downloads.
