Ohio Cooperative to Deploy Power Line Carrier AMI

Cooper Power Systems has been selected by Consolidated Electric Cooperative, Inc. of Mount Gilead, Ohio, to deploy its power line carrier (PLC) advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network throughout the electric cooperative’s service territory.

The project includes implementing more than 16,000 new electric meters with integrated Cooper AMI modules within a 12-month period. This deployment will allow Consolidated to to use information brought back and managed by the Yukon Advanced Energy Services Platform. Consolidated looks to to improving billing accuracy, operational efficiencies and responsiveness, and customer service and satisfaction with the implementation of Cooper Power Systems two-way AMI solution. The system will connect the cooperative to its members dispersed throughout eight central Ohio counties served by nearly 1500 miles of distribution line.

More than 200 electric utilities throughout North America are realizing the benefits of managing multiple automation solutions using the Yukon platform.
The software has continually evolved and currently includes support for advanced metering infrastructure, demand response, capacitor bank control, volt/VAR optimization, smart sensors, feeder reconfiguration and substation automation.
