How to Remove Danger Trees

A Bonneville Power Administration vegetation management crew takes down four "danger trees."

In the heart of the Cascade Mountains southeast of Salem, Oregon, a Bonneville Power Administration vegetation management crew takes down four "danger trees." The 60-foot pine trees have been damaged by wildfire and are considered a hazard to fall and take out a 230-kV transmission line. While the line is de-energized for the work, vegetation management crews must exercise extreme caution and precision to make sure felling a large tree does not damage existing infrastructure.. Host utility: Bonneville Power Administration
