RuggedCom has introduced the compact RuggedSwitch RS940G 8-port gigabit Ethernet switch to address the needs for high-bandwidth applications found in substation automation for electric utilities and advanced control and automation for industrial processes.

The new RuggedSwitch RS940G product features:

  • 6 Triple Speed 10/100/1000BaseTX Ports + 2 Optional Gigabit Fiber or Copper Ports
  • Hazardous Location Certification (Class1 Div 2)
  • Advanced Managed Ethernet Switch Functions
  • Integrated Cyber Security Features

As with all RuggedCom products, the RuggedSwitch RS940G is RuggedRated for harsh environments. RuggedRated products meet or exceed a wide range of industry standards; provide a high level of immunity to electromagnetic interference and heavy electrical surges; feature a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (no fans); can be powered from a variety of sources (12Vdc, 24Vdc, 48Vdc, 88-300Vdc/35-264Vac); and have high MTBFs and reliability characteristics. In addition, all RuggedSwitch RS900 family of products are Class 1 Div 2 certified for hazardous locations. All of these features allow the RuggedSwitch products to be placed in almost any location for great installation flexibility.
