CenterPoint Energy Restores Power to More Than 1 Million Customers Following Hurricane Beryl

July 11, 2024
The company expects to have an additional 400,000 customers restored by July 12 and an additional 350,000 customers restored by July 14.

CenterPoint Energy has restored more than 1 million of the 2.26 million customers impacted by Hurricane Beryl in the first 55 hours of its restoration efforts and will continue to focus on restoring customers without power.

The company expects to have an additional 400,000 customers restored by July 12 and an additional 350,000 customers restored by July 14.

CenterPoint crews are completing damage assessment, with more than 8,500 miles of circuits examined across the Greater Houston area. They have identified severe tree damage across the company's system.

Trees across the area were at risk due to three years of weather, including significant freezes, drought and heavy rain in spring 2023. Downed trees and tree debris affected CenterPoint's distribution system of poles and wires. As crews located tree damage blocking circuits and causing outages, they have been removing it to restore impacted customers.

CenterPoint's electric customers are requested to enroll in Power Alert Service to receive outage details and community-specific restoration updates.
