Entergy Mississippi is continuing efforts to restore power following severe storms that impacted the state of Mississippi on Saturday night. Tornadoes, high winds, and lightning caused significant damage, resulting in more than 45,000 power outages across the service area.
As of 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, power has been restored to approximately 60% of affected customers, leaving around 17,800 customers still without service. Due to the extent of the damage, restoration is expected to take several days. Some customers are anticipated to have power restored by Monday evening, while others in the hardest-hit areas may remain without service until late Tuesday. Updated estimated restoration times will be provided as damage assessments progress and are available on Entergy’s View Outage map.
Currently, damage assessments are 53% complete, revealing significant impacts to both the transmission and distribution systems. Damage includes 10 transmission lines, two transmission towers, seven insulator assemblies, 101 poles, 29 transformers, and approximately 29 miles of damaged or destroyed wire.
More than 1,200 personnel, including internal crews and additional contractors, vegetation workers, damage assessors, and support staff, are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
