Hurricane Idalia: Mutual Assistance Networks Activated and Ready to Respond
Aug. 30, 2023
More than 25,000 workers from at least 19 states and D.C. have been mobilized to support power restoration.
Hurricane Idalia made landfall as a Category 3 storm this morning according to an article on CNN.
Before the storm even hit Florida, however, more than 25,000 workers from at least 19 states and the District of Columbia were strategically prepositioned to respond to any power outages when and where they could, provided it was safe to do so.
The Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies, is closely coordinating with the electric companies, public power utilities and electric cooperatives in the path of Hurricane Idalia.
EEI's Storm Center is a resource for real-time information and updates on storm preparation and restoration progress. You also can follow EEI on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates.
