Edison International and Southern California Edison are pleased to launch the application period for the 2025 Lineworker Scholarship Program. In partnership with IBEW Local 47, the scholarship program is now in its fifth year of creating career pathways to transform the skilled trade workforce.

“Lineworkers are critical to rebuilding communities affected by wildfires and delivering safe and reliable power to our customers throughout Southern California,” said Heather Rivard, SCE’s senior vice president of Transmission and Distribution. “We encourage those interested to apply for the Lineworker Scholarship and take this step toward a fulfilling and meaningful career.”

Since 2021, the Lineworker Scholarship Program has opened doors for talented individuals to pursue specialized training, resources and support, with a focus on expanding the future workforce in SCE’s service area. The program is funded by Edison International shareholders, not ratepayers, in partnership with IBEW Local 47.

Graduates will be eligible for entry-level skilled trade positions at SCE once they complete the Powerline Mechanic certificate program at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, obtain a Class A driver’s license and complete SCE’s pre-employment requirements. All jobs will be located within SCE’s 50,000-square-mile service area and may require the graduate to relocate. The Lineworker Scholarship covers the cost of tuition, tools and support services needed to complete the requirements, up to $25,000 per recipient.

The Lineworker Scholarship is open to all applicants who meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Enroll at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College for fall 2025
  • Enroll in the Powerline Mechanic certificate program
  • Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Be eligible to obtain a Class A driver’s license (must be at least 18 years of age)

Preference will be given to California residents.
