Entergy To Supply Renewable Power To Monarch Energy’s 300 MW Green Hydrogen Electrolyzer Project In Louisiana
Entergy Louisiana and Monarch Energy have signed a memorandum of understanding to leverage existing transmission infrastructure and/or construct new generation resources to supply long-term renewable power to the later’s 300 MW green hydrogen electrolyzer project near Donaldsonville, Louisiana.
Monarch Energy expects to initiate commercial operations of the project in 2027. The project not only represents a potential $400 million investment in Ascension Parish but will also create over 300 construction jobs and over 44 permanent operational jobs.
“Louisiana presents an excellent opportunity for green hydrogen production with the existing industrial workforce, development friendly local communities, and experienced industrial hydrogen consumers,” said Ben Alingh, co-founder and CEO of Monarch Energy.
Recently, Entergy Louisiana has filed a request with the Louisiana Public Service Commission to approve an additional three gigawatts of solar power to its generation portfolio. 3,225 MW of solar power in total are seeking approval for potential construction, development and placement on the grid through agreements with Entergy Louisiana.
