Sustainable energy company Avangrid has begun installing approximately 105,000 solar modules at its Camino Solar project in California.
With a capacity of 44 MWac (57 MWdc), the project is expected to produce enough energy to power about 14,000 U.S. homes annually.
The project, which is located near Avangrid’s 189 MW Manzana wind farm, will create around 100 construction jobs, most of which will be sourced locally. Over its lifetime, Camino is expected to generate approximately $15 million in state and local tax revenue.
Camino Solar, built on both private land and over 200 acres of public land managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, is Avangrid’s first solar project in California.
The company also operates six wind energy projects in the state, with a combined capacity of over 500 MW.
