NxtPhase T&D Corp. has fulfilled a contract with the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) to supply nine fully redundant optical systems for the measurement of high-voltage power quality in Turkey.
The order consists of NXVCT combination optical current and voltage sensors and NXCT optical current sensors ranging from 36 kV to 420 kV. These systems will provide improved transient response due to wider frequency band and enhanced dynamic range to achieve a highly accurate power quality assessment of the high voltage transmission line. These sensors have bandwidth of up to 20 kHz. They will be used in a variety of applications including calibration and measurement of harmonics and transients.
These optical sensors are going to be used within the scope of the National Power Quality Project of Türkiye, fully financed by The Support Program of the Public Institutions Research Projects of TUBITAK, The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye. The project is being carried out by TEIAS, TUBITAK-UZAY Institute, Middle East Technical University, Hacettepe University, Yýldýz Technical University and Dokuz Eylül University. Within this project, it is aimed at monitoring the parameters affecting power quality and reactive power flows in the Turkish Electricity Transmission System, determining and evaluating the problems thereof, and implementing countermeasures to increase the quality of power in the medium and long term. The Power Quality parameters are going to be monitored as defined in IEC 61000-4-30 Std. "Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC); Testing and measurement techniques-Power quality measurement methods" continuously in the Turkish Electricity Transmission System.
